SUMMARY:Bee-Bot Bop - Science World | Grades 2-5ish| VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP
DESCRIPTION:Join Joyful Learning Academy for a LIVE Virtual Field Trip with Science World! \nThis is a formal Virtual Field Trip.  After the event\, you will be provided with a special Coding Theme Virtual Classroom filled with information and activities to continue building your coding skills! \nPlease note: This Virtual Field Trip requires parent supervision. Your child will be completing coding activities during the workshop that may require parental assistance. Participants will need TWO Devices to successfully participate in this workshop. One device to watch the meeting\, and another to complete activities. \n  \nIMPORTANT DETAILS \nSubject Area: ADST (STEM\, Coding) \nClass Length: 60 mins \nCost Per Student: FREE for Registered JLA Students\, $5 for Guests \nTarget Age: Grade 2-4 \nDESCRIPTION FROM SCIENCE WORLD \nSTUDENTS WILL UNDERSTAND THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CODING AND HOW ROBOTS WORK BY PROGRAMMING A VIRTUAL BEE ROBOT AND THEN GETTING IT TO COMPLETE A SERIES OF CHALLENGES. FOLLOWING THE WORKSHOP\, STUDENTS WILL ‘BEE’ CONFIDENT TO COMPLETE FURTHER CODING CHALLENGES INDEPENDENTLY. \nIntended for and geared towards overall early learners and newcomers to computer programming\, students will be introduced to coding and robotics. In small groups\, students will learn how to program a robot bee to execute a series of commands. \nStudents are introduced to computational thinking through offline coding. Students will discuss coding as a language and learn how to write and to follow a code using symbols. With these coding skills\, students will be presented with a series of challenges and program a virtual bee robot to solve them. By the end of the workshop\, students will understand how robots read code to perform a task. They will also be able to independently explore with the virtual robot platform after the workshop ends. \nHelpful Hints: \n\nIt is recommended to participate in this Virtual Field Trip with two devices – one for the Zoom Meeting and another for the Coding Program\, if possible.\nIf you only have one device\, teach your child how to switch between separate program windows on their device.\nFor younger children\, parent participation is recommended.\nEnter the Waiting Room a few minutes early\, just to make sure you’re all set.\nChange your Screen Name to your Children’s names or family name (ie.
